Why In-House Testing Matters
Blood work and lab testing give us information we can’t get from a physical exam alone. They help us detect early signs of kidney, liver, and thyroid disease, diabetes, infections, and anemia, often before your pet shows symptoms. Having our own laboratory means we can make treatment decisions during the same visit, which is especially important for sick pets and those undergoing surgery.
Lab Work as Part of Complete Care
Our laboratory supports every area of our practice, from routine wellness exams and senior screenings to parasite prevention and pre-surgical testing before dental cleanings and spay and neuter procedures. For specialized tests, we partner with reference laboratories and combine those results with our onsite diagnostics to build a complete picture of your pet’s health.

Routine blood work establishes a baseline and can detect hidden problems such as kidney or liver disease before symptoms appear.
Is blood work required before surgery?
We recommend pre-anesthetic blood work before any procedure requiring anesthesia to help make it as safe as possible.
Do you send any tests to outside labs?

How often should my pet have blood work?
Most adult pets benefit from annual blood work, while senior pets and those on long-term medication may need testing more often.
