Preparing for International Travel With Your Pet

Since each country is different, you’ll need to contact the embassy or consulate of your destination to find out exactly what is required. Requirements can change, and some countries require tests or treatments to be completed months in advance, so we recommend starting the process as early as possible. If you are not yet a client, please bring your pet’s medical records with you to the examination.

What Your Pet May Need for Travel

  • A health certificate completed by a USDA-accredited veterinarian
  • Proof of current vaccinations, including rabies
  • An ISO-compatible microchip
  • Blood tests, such as rabies titer testing
  • Parasite treatments within a specific window before travel
  • Airline-specific travel forms

Your Pet’s Travel Exam

At the time of your pet’s examination, we’ll go over the forms you need and confirm your pet is healthy enough to travel. In some cases, we may need to run tests in our in-house laboratory or treat your pet before departure, including parasite treatments. Since we can’t track every change in every country’s requirements, it’s important to call ahead and know what you need. Then we’ll make sure your pet is all ready to go!
