#158 Natural Pet record 7/18 5pm air 8/2

Good day everyone….This is Martha Childress, and WELCOME to the Natural Choice Network. A local platform and meeting place, where Sustainable living comes LIVE.

Naturalchoice.net, and the Natural Choice Network directories…. have many great ways for conscious consumers to connect, stay up to date on Green Resources, Natural Health, Natural Food, and Mind/Spirit…and you can also stay connected right here with me,  every Tuesday at half past noon, on Alternative talk 1150.

And as you know, we talk a lot about the mind/body/soul connection on this show, and today we are going to discuss that same approach again….. in relationship to holistic healthcare for our pets.

And today I have Dr. Tejinder Sodhi with me. Not only is Dr. Sodhi a Dr. of Veterinary medicine, he is also a certified Veterinary Chiropractor, and has served on the board of advisors for the Seattle King County Veterinary Medical Association, and was the founding president of the Holistic chapter of Washington State, and served as the first president of Holistic Veterinarians in the state of Washington as well.

Welcome to the show Dr. Sodhi,

You began integrating holistic and alternative animal health practices pretty early on. Tell us a little about your background, and what motivated you to expand your practice beyond traditional veterinary services?

Is taking a holistic medical approach with pets any different than in treating to us humans?

And we’ll be right back with much more about Natural holistic pet care with Dr. Sodhi…. right after these short messages.

Break…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

Welcome back… I’m here Dr. Sodhi,  aTraditional and Holistic Veterinarian at Animal Wellness and Rehab Center of Bellevue.

Dr. Sodhi, please Start off by telling us about some of the holistic and rehabilitation services you provide that many people may not be very familiar with, or know are available for pets?

Tell us about the Animal Hospital in Lynwood, and how you differ.

People come from all over the states for your services. Are more Veterinarians taking your lead and expanding their own practices so people don’t have to travel so far?

What aspect of your practice are pet owners most often open to when they come to you – what usually gets them in the door first?  (I suspect it may not be what keeps them coming back…. as they learn more about the other complimentary modalities)

What are pet owners most resistant too, or seemingly miss-informed

Discussion points:

Testing and diagnosis – (they can’t talk!)

Acupuncture/Chiropractic (hand in hand?)

Homeopathy

Rehabilitation

Cancer consults

Do’s and Don’ts for food (Chocolate? pet foods GMO)

Wellness practices – especially in the hot summer months

Behavioral challenges (how much is based on the owners behavior?)

What can our pets tell us about US? Do we often have a spiritual relationship with out pets?

Importance of PLAY and exercise (not so different from us and beneficial for both, especially when done together.

We’ll be right back with some closing thoughts from Dr. Sodhi, after these short messages.
